Welcome back to “Mildly Better”! Today, I want to share some tips on how to declutter your home and simplify your life.
Start With one Room
Rather than trying to declutter your entire house at once, start with one room and work your way through the rest of the house gradually. Starting with one area can help you stay focused and motivated, and it can also give you a sense of accomplishment as you move on to the next room.
Use the ‘Three-Box Method’
As you declutter each room, use the ‘three-box method’ to sort your items into three categories: keep, donate/sell, and throw away. As you go through each item in a room, place it into one of these boxes depending on whether you want to keep it, sell/donate it, or throw it away. This method can help you make decisions about what to keep and what to get rid of, and it can also make the decluttering process feel less overwhelming.
Be Mindful of What you Keep
When deciding what to keep, ask yourself if the item is really necessary or if it brings you happiness. If not, consider donating or selling it. This can help to simplify your space and make it more enjoyable to be in.
Set Boundaries
To prevent clutter from building up again, set boundaries for yourself and your household. For example, decide to get rid of one item for every new item that comes into the house, or you could commit to decluttering a certain area of your home on a regular basis (e.g. once a month).
Make it a Habit
Once you’ve decluttered your home, make it a habit to regularly go through your belongings and get rid of things you no longer need or use. This can be a habit that you build into your routine, such as decluttering for 15 minutes each day or setting aside a specific day each month to go through your belongings.
Decluttering your home can be a great way to simplify your life and reduce stress. I hope these tips are helpful! Let me know in the comments if you have any other tips or strategies for decluttering.
